Which universities are confirmed partners?
As of late 2025, confirmed campus-wide partners include: Northeastern University (Global Campuses), Syracuse University (US), Champlain College (US), London School of Economics (UK), Northumbria University (UK), and University of San Francisco School of Law (US - Law School Only). Note: More universities are added regularly. Check your university IT portal if you are unsure.
Can I sign up individually with my .edu email?
No. This is institutional access only. MUST be a currently enrolled student, faculty member, or staff at a partnering university. Personal .edu emails from non-partner schools are NOT eligible. Contact your university IT department or student services to learn about enrollment if your institution participates in the program.
Is this available for faculty and staff too?
Yes! Claude for Education is available to students, faculty, and staff at partner universities, making it a comprehensive institutional benefit for the entire campus community.
What is Socratic learning mode?
Socratic learning mode is a specialized tutoring approach where Claude guides you through problems with questions and hints rather than direct answers, helping you develop deeper understanding and critical thinking skills.
How is this different from regular Claude?
You get Claude Enterprise (normally $20/month value) completely FREE via institutional license, plus educational features like Socratic tutoring mode, Projects for organizing work, Vision capabilities, and academic research tools. Most importantly, your data is NEVER used to train modelsβstrict enterprise privacy protections for all academic work. You also get uncapped access to both Claude 4 Sonnet and Claude 4 Opus.
What are Projects?
Projects let you save and organize conversations by topic or assignment, making it easy to return to ongoing research, keep coursework organized, and maintain context across multiple study sessions.
Can I use Claude for programming assignments?
Yes, but use it as a learning tool. Claude helps you understand concepts, debug errors, and learn best practices. Always write and understand your own code, and follow your institution's academic integrity policies.
How long does the access last?
Access lasts while you remain enrolled or employed at a partner university. This is not a 12-month limited offerβit continues for the duration of your enrollment/employment. The program launched in April 2025 and is actively expanding to more institutions.
Is my data used to train Claude models?
No. Enterprise Privacy protections ensure your research and chat data are excluded from model training. Your academic work remains confidential and is never used to improve Claude models.
